Update: EditMe's 75th Kiva Loan
Friday, March 14, 2008
As promised in the original post and first follow-up about EditMe's Kiva lending program, here is the third update on our program to use deferred revenue from custom pre-payments to fund an ongoing series of Kiva loans. Today marks EditMe's 75th Kiva loan!
The 75th loan went to Kouk Kem of Cambodia. The following is Kiva's introduction to this entrepreneur:
"Mr. Kouk Kem and his wife, Yun Yot, have been married since 1981. They have no children. The family is about twenty kilometers from Phnom Penh.
"Mr. Kouk has been selling cows for two years. He buys cows from other village to resell in his village and in nearby village for growing rice and for food. Before he started this business, he was a farmer. His wife stays at home.
"Mr. Kouk is requesting a loan for the third time in the amount of $500 to buy more cows to resell."
Since announcing the program, many customers have changed to pre-paid 6 and 12 month plans. This money is what funds the lending program, so thanks to all of you who have switched.
