About the Company

I started EditMe back in 2002 to build the web's first WYSIWYG wiki service. Back then, most people didn't know what a wiki was. The online service was first released to the public in August of 2003 and has grown steadily in membership since then - largely by word of mouth. Today, EditMe is a powerful combination of wiki and conventional web-based content management features, bringing the power of wikis to web sites of all kinds.

EditMe has taken a slightly different path from most Internet-based companies. Management is guided by a few simple principals.

EditMe's Operating Principals

Support & Accessibility

EditMe does not view support as an unfortunate cost of business or as a premium feature customers should pay extra for. Providing excellent support to EditMe's customers is the lifeblood of the business.

My goal is to make EditMe feel like the store on the corner. You know the owner by name and you know that, when push comes to shove, he'll do the right thing by you.

Independence

My personal goal in starting EditMe was to acheive professional independence. I know many others who have gone out on their own with the same goal. EditMe contracts with small companies and individual contributors whenever possible, allowing both parties to maintain independent and nimble. The best employees would rather work with than for somebody else.

This principal is also the motivation behind leaving venture funding on the table. Many bright technical folks start companies and take venture funding only to find themselves an employee once again in the company they started, working for the folks who funded (and own) their business.

Value

As a small business owner, I know how important it is to get value from every dollar I spend. In return, I strive to provide an exceptional value to my customers. The fact that EditMe is self-funded and debt free means that our prices reflect the cost of doing business with a reasonable profit margin.

Flexibility

EditMe, as a product, has few hard lines. Almost every aspect of the product can be customized. Where you'd get a hard "no" from the other guys, you'll likely get a reasonable professional services quote from EditMe. This means you don't have to pick up and move your site because you come to need some feature missing from your current solution.
