Customer Quote

"As our website and skills with EditMe improved we decided to move to our own domain. The tech support was very responsive and efficient. Moving to the new domain didn't affect our position on the search engines. We have been on top pages since the day we started, as the EditMe system is 100% search engine friendly." - Jose Esteban Saa Barona

2008-04-21
Over the weekend we updated EditMe with a new feature called Modules. Similar to Skins, modules provide a way to package a set of pages and attachments for one-click installation into a site. Product Updates: A Very Busy December

We were so busy in December we hardly had time to post to the blog! There were a number of product updates in December. Here's the scoop.

Product Update: "Newton" Family of Skins

2007-10-18
As promised in Sunday's post, the new skins are now available. These skins give EditMe a fresh new look and use CSS positioning instead of tables.  Check the full post for screen shots...

Product Update: New Release Upgrades Style Sheets and Layouts

2007-10-14
EditMe released an upgrade today that changes how Layouts and Style Sheets are managed. Layouts previously used XSL, which was limiting and difficult to use. The new layouts offer a simpler method of creating custom designs for EditMe sites, and offer a programmable API for accessing site content in a more dynamic way than was possible before. Several other updates were bundled along with this release.  Read the full release notes for details.

Product Update: Boolean Search and Color Picker

2007-08-20
Two issues raised by customers recently have been resolved. The + and - Boolean operators in EditMe's search feature were not working as advertised - this has been resolved. Also, the "More Colors" link in the "Select text color" and "Select background color" editor dialogs were not working in some versions of Internet Explorer. While we continue to investigate that issue, we have chosen to disable the inline dialogs. This means the dialogs in the editor will be real pop-up windows. They will work with standard browser configurations, but some more aggressive third party pop-up blockers will block them unless an exception is made for the EditMe site. We hope to return to the inline dialogs once this issue is resolved.

Product Update: Editor Enhancements

2007-06-25
A product update released today includes many enhancements and bug fixes for EditMe's browser-based editor. Notable enhancements include integrated image and link management, improved performance, a new "Media" dialog to manage multi-media content, and improved Safari and Opera support. Product Update: 404 Page Eases Transition to EditMe

2007-05-03
Links to pages on an EditMe site that don't exist have always gone to a special page that prompts you to create it. This allows you to create links to pages you intend to create as reminders to do so. But links to files that don't exist (such as /index.html, which is not a valid EditMe page name) would go to a traditional web server "404 Not Found" page. In order to ease transitions for customers moving an existing site to EditMe, we have changed this behavior to instead show an EditMe page called "404". You can create this page on your site and decide what message you want users to see when visiting a resource on your site that can't be an EditMe page and does not exist. This page will also be shown for links to attachments that have been deleted. (In case you're wondering what the significance of 404 is, this is the numeric status web servers respond with to a request for a resource that does not exist.)

Product Update: Captcha Back Door Fixed

2007-04-03
While testing the new captcha images last week we found a loophole in our captcha system that a few aggressive spammers had been using to post spam comments to our customer's wikis. If you had enabled captchas on your site and saw little or no slow-down in spam comments, you were almost certainly a victim of this flaw. Now that it is fixed, we expect to see a dramatic drop in spam comments. Let us know if you notice a change on your site.

Product Update: New Captcha Images

2007-03-26
We have replaced the original 5 letter dictionary word captcha images with random five letter words that contain upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols. This exponentially increases the number of captcha value possibilities and should go a long way towards deterring spammer scripts from guessing captcha values.  Read the full article...

Product Update: Minor Edits, Recent Changes Formatting & Login Form Messaging

2006-12-06
An update to EditMe released today includes resolution of several maintenance issues along with a few frequently requested features.

A new "Minor Edit" checkbox now appears on the Edit form. This checkbox places the text (minor edit) in the Comment box of the edit form. Any page edit with (minor edit) found in the comment is considered a minor edit. A description of the edit can also be included in the comment along with the text (minor edit).

A new user attribute specifies whether minor edits should be included in change notification emails. And a checkbox now appears on the Recent Changes page that will show or hide minor edits.
